Please find useful resources in both English and Spanish regarding RSV. Respiratory Syncytial Virus from the CDC and Kids Health. As you may have heard, communities are seeing increases in RSV, COVID and Influenza cases as we enter the cold and flu season.
The Kids Health website allows users the option to listen through a read-out loud feature on its page. This feature is available in both English and Spanish. I have also included an infographic from NIH that shows the differences in the signs and symptoms of Cold, Flu and COVID.
It may be difficult to determine if a child has RSV a Cold, COVID or Influenza based on similarities in the symptoms. It is best to ensure staff err on the side of caution and have children that are suspected to be ill, follow-up with their medical providers to rule out possible contagious illness. It is also an optimal time to ensure that staff receive refresher training to conduct and document thorough daily health checks for all children.
Please feel free to reach out to your assigned LACOE Health Consultant with any questions or concerns you may have.
