Early STEAM Summer Symposium
Free Early Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math Summer Symposium

The California Department of Social Services would like to share an exciting free training opportunity with you. Count Play Explore is sponsoring a free virtual Early Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Summer Symposium. The symposium will focus on “The Role of the Arts in Early STEAM.”
When: Friday, June 26, 2026, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This symposium is intended for educators, librarians, families of children, and adults working or supporting children’s learning from birth to third grade.
The Summer Symposium will feature two keynote presentations:
- STEAM: Shaping Thinkers, Empowering ARTistic Minds with Julie Montali
- Building a Fire: Arts Integrated with Sally Baker
The event will also feature seven breakout sessions:
- Nature Journaling: Art and Science for Anyone, Anywhere! with Marleah Augustine
- Pathways to Creativity: A Free Framework for Integrating the Arts in STEAM with Courtney Berolzheimer
- Bringing STEAM to Life: Integrating the Arts in Learning with Daniel Mendoza
- Elevating the Arts in STEAM with Lynneth Solis
- Artful Math: Playing with Geometry and Gabriela Hasper with Judith Fabrega
- The Adaptive Palette: Strategies for Universal Success in Early STEAM with Katie Blunt
- Maker Spaces & Pocket Studios: Designing Spaces for Creativity with Ruthie Iglesias

The first 970 people to register (who reside in the United States) have the opportunity to receive a free children’s book- Manny Matches the Weather or Moon Chef. These titles are the first two books in the STEAMWORKS series. To learn more about the series visit STEAM WORKS.
