PIN Updates from DSS

Current News

California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued new guidance under AB 495 (Family Preparedness Act of 2025) to help child care providers protect immigrant families.

Key points:
• Don’t collect unnecessary immigration or citizenship info
• Keep family information private unless legally required
• Require warrants/court orders before sharing info or allowing access
• Report immigration enforcement requests
• Ensure emergency contacts are updated in case a parent is detained

Goal: Keep child care spaces safe, inclusive, and accessible for all families.

What are Provider Information Notice (PINs)?

A Provider Information Notice (PIN) is a message from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). It is for people who run licensed child care programs. Each PIN tells about new rules or changes that affect child care. This can be about safety, licensing, or what must be shown.

CCLD PINs

Some PINs come from the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD). They watch over many kinds of care programs.

CCP PINs

Other PINs come from the Child Care Licensing Program (CCP), which helps licensed child care providers.
