Governor Newsom announced $105 million in grants for homeowners whose homes were damaged by fire, flood, or other disasters from January 2023 to January 2025. Applications open June 12.

Help for Disaster Survivors

• Up to 3 months of mortgage payments, max $20,000.
• Grants don’t need to be repaid.
• Applying is free.
• Grants paid directly to mortgage company.
• Funds given while available, first-come, first-served.

Who Can Apply?

• Main home damaged or unlivable due to disaster from 01/01/2023 to 01/08/2025.
• Meet income limits.
• Have a mortgage or reverse mortgage.
• Own a single-family home, condo, or permanently fixed manufactured home (up to 4 units).

Get Ready to Apply

Starting June 12, apply online at CalAssistMortgageFund.org. Prepare by:

• Checking qualified disasters.
• Confirming income limits.
• Checking if your mortgage company participates.
• Gathering mortgage, bank, utility bills, insurance or FEMA claim, and proof of income.

County of Los Angeles Department of Economic Opportunity

Fire Recovery and Resilience Workforce Program offers paid disaster relief jobs, training, and transitional work for wildfire-affected workers.

Childcare Workers
Pay: $20/hr with benefits.

Eligibility: Meet requirements at opportunity.lacounty.gov/FireWorkforce. Experience with school-age children preferred but not required. Must have CPR & First Aid card or attend training on June 8, 8 AM–3 PM at Belvedere Park, 4914 E Cesar Chavez Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90022.

Duties: Help run programs for disaster-affected children, supervise activities and enforce park rules, keep the park clean and safe, set up event spaces, perform basic clerical and cleaning tasks, and close park facilities as needed.

Work Location: Loma Alta Park, 3330 N Lincoln Ave, Altadena, CA 91001.

New Altadena Disaster Recovery Center opened January 27. Open daily 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to support businesses and workers.

Message for Child Care Providers:

We know it is important to update provider info and vacancies during emergencies. This helps Resource & Referral (R&R) staff give accurate info to families needing child care. Working with Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) partners is also important. Please keep these points in mind:

• Encourage: If you are safe, update your email and cell phone so CCLD can reach you through the Everbridge Mass Notification System during disasters like fires or power shutoffs. Share PIN 24-06 CCLD with providers.

• Assist: If you don’t have email, we can help you get one. We can explain why it’s important to get and respond to Everbridge alerts and keep your contact info updated with CCLD.

• Remind: Contact your Regional Office if fires have affected you in any way.

• Inform: Disaster info can change fast. Contact us and CDSS/CCLD to share updates about your status.
