All Our Kin: Business Series Program (Classes in Chinese)
Congratulations Grads!
We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the recent graduates of the Business Series program, hosted by the PUSD Child Development, Resource & Referral Department. This transformative 10-week program, expertly designed and facilitated by All Our Kin, has empowered family child care providers to elevate their businesses and enhance the quality of care they offer to children and families in our community.
A Commitment to Excellence
Tailored Business Training
This year’s cohort included a special focus on Chinese-speaking family day care providers. Over 10 engaging classes, participants learned the fundamentals of running a family daycare as a small business. The program was offered in a hybrid format, beginning with an in-person session to familiarize participants with technology, followed by online classes via Zoom, and culminating in an in-person graduation ceremony on September 7, 2024.

- Contracts: Understanding the importance of contract terms and client communication.
- Policy Handbook & Partnerships: Developing personalized policy handbooks and family partnerships.
- Risk Management: Exploring risk mitigation strategies and business insurance essentials.

Empowering Providers
Aizhu Wang, one of the Resource Teachers and a dedicated coach and consultant, expressed her admiration for the graduates’ commitment and achievements:
"I am very impressed that all of our providers finished all assignments excellently, especially their marketing flyers, contracts, and policy handbooks. They learned to promote their family day care professionally, create contracts with parents, and design their unique policy handbooks. The second part of the course focused on finance, budgeting, and taxes, which many found empowering. For instance, understanding Time-Space Percentage for deductions was a significant highlight. Many were unaware of this crucial tool for managing shared expenses."

Looking Ahead
The completion of the Business Series program marks a significant milestone for these dedicated providers. Armed with newfound knowledge and confidence, they are better prepared to run their businesses efficiently, ultimately benefiting the families they serve and the children in their care.
We applaud the hard work and dedication of all participants and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in our community as they continue their journey as family child care providers. Congratulations to the graduates of the Business Series program—your commitment to excellence is truly inspiring!
